Printmaking
My printmaking practice is drawn to intaglio methods of collagraph, etching and drypoint, with a focus on the tonality, depth and texture that can only be created through printmaking. I find it a hugely expressive medium - you can get texture and tones that are not achievable by a brush alone. I also find the processes of making prints very meditative and absorbing.
All my prints are hand pulled in small editions inked with environmentally friendly inks, and no two are ever the same. Indeed, many of my editions are 'variable editions' as I so enjoy inking up the plate each time almost as a monoprint, sometimes using my fingers as additional mark making tools. It is always a thrill to lift one off the press and see what has been created.
I am very lucky to have my own little press, and access to a larger press nearby. However I am eagerly awaiting my new, beautiful Size 3 Gunning press, which will be an absolute joy to use.
